NAPLES, FL · SEO FAQ
# SEO questions, answered straight.
These are the questions business owners actually ask before hiring an SEO agency, answered without hedging. Where a claim can be sourced, this page names the source. Where it could not be, the claim was cut rather than softened, which is why this version is shorter on impressive numbers than the one it replaces. Several answers say plainly what they used to say and why it was wrong.

## What is SEO and how does it work?
SEO is the work of making your site the best available answer to a search, so Google ranks it higher. Google weighs many signals: how fast the page loads, how well it matches what the searcher wanted, whether credible sites link to it, and whether your business details are consistent across the web. It is not a one-time fix.
The useful way to think about it is closing a gap rather than flipping a switch. Somebody already ranks above you, and they rank because their signals are stronger on the dimensions Google weighs. The work is finding which of those dimensions you are losing on, then closing them in the order that pays back soonest. That order is most of why timelines feel unpredictable to owners, and it is why a plan written after reading your site beats a package bought before anyone looked at it.
The honest part is that the pieces run on different clocks. Technical repairs can move things within weeks, because you are removing something that was actively holding the site down. Content and authority take months, because you are earning a position somebody else currently occupies and they are not going to hand it over. Anyone who tells you those two run on the same schedule is selling you the fast one and billing for the slow one.
None of it is secret, and that is worth saying out loud in a category that profits from mystique. There is no hidden lever, and a larger invoice does not unlock one. What a larger budget buys is more hours, and more senior hours, pointed at a harder problem. If an agency cannot explain what it is doing this month in language you understand, that is not sophistication.

## How much does SEO cost, and do you sell packages?
Our engagements typically run $1,200 to $3,500 a month, scaled to competition and scope, with competitive verticals and multi-location work starting higher. We do not sell fixed tiers. We quote after a [free audit](https://seoeliteagency.com/free-seo-audit/) and never before, because a price named before anyone has read your site is a guess with a number attached to it.
This answer is a correction, and it is a large one. The previous version of this page advertised four named tiers at fixed monthly prices, starting at $1,200. That is not how we price, and it contradicts our own [pricing page](https://seoeliteagency.com/seo-pricing-packages/), which says it in terms: we do not sell Silver, Gold and Platinum tiers, because a fixed price is either too high for a simple site or too low to do a hard one properly. The tiers are gone, and the floor is $1,500.
What actually moves a quote is scope: how contested your keywords are, how much technical debt the site is carrying, how many locations need their own pages, and whether you are chasing the map pack, national organic and AI citation at once or just one of them. Those are things the audit measures. The size of the prioritized list it produces is what a fair number is built on, and you see that list before you spend anything.
For market context rather than as our own rate, the most common retainer bands among US, UK and Australian providers run from $1,001 to $5,000 a month [(Backlinko, 2026)](https://backlinko.com/seo-pricing). Our range sits inside that, which is unremarkable and is meant to be. The number worth interrogating is not whether an agency is expensive but whether it can tell you what the money buys this month.

## How do you measure results, and what will you not promise?
We will not promise a ranking. Nobody controls Google, and our [terms](https://seoeliteagency.com/terms-conditions/) say plainly that we do not guarantee specific results such as first-page rankings, traffic increases, or sales performance. What we commit to is measurement you can audit yourself, in accounts you own, tied to leads and revenue rather than screenshots.
The rule that makes the rest work is that you own the accounts. Your Google Analytics property, your Search Console, your call tracking and your CRM should be created under your email with us granted access, never the reverse. That one arrangement is what makes every number checkable: you can open Search Console yourself and see the same clicks the report claims, instead of accepting a screenshot on faith. An agency that sets these up under its own login and will not transfer them is holding your history hostage.
The previous version of this page went further and said every metric comes only from Search Console. That was tidier than the truth, so it is corrected here. Search Console is the closest thing to ground truth for organic clicks, impressions and queries, but it stops at the click. GA4 measures what happens on your site, call tracking catches the phone calls a form never records, and rank trackers only ever estimate position. No single tool sees the whole picture, and our [reporting page](https://seoeliteagency.com/seo-reporting-strategy-services/) sets out which tool answers which question.
What we report against is outcomes: organic-attributed calls, form fills and revenue, with keyword and map-pack movement as leading indicators rather than the headline. A first-place position on a phrase nobody buys from is not a result, and we would rather tell you that than put it on a slide. The reporting also carries its own caveats out loud, because a report whose numbers only ever rise is a sales document.

## What is technical SEO, and why does it come first?
Technical SEO is fixing the infrastructure so engines can crawl, index and render your pages, regardless of how good the content is. A page that cannot be crawled cannot rank, so it goes first. It is also where the payback is fastest, because you are removing something that was actively suppressing the site rather than building something new.
The faults are unglamorous and that is exactly why they survive. A robots.txt rule or a stray noindex tag left on a live page after a redesign. Redirect chains quietly bleeding authority. Duplicate content splitting equity across URL variants nobody knew existed. Core Web Vitals failing on the phones your customers actually use. None of it is interesting, and all of it caps what any amount of content spending can achieve, which is why content layered on top of an unfixed technical problem is the most expensive way to run a campaign.
The newer reason it matters is AI. AI crawlers read raw HTML and do not execute JavaScript, so anything that only appears after a script runs is invisible to the engines your buyers increasingly ask [(Vercel, 2024)](https://vercel.com/blog/the-rise-of-the-ai-crawler). A site rendered entirely on the client can look perfectly good to you and be effectively blank to the systems now summarizing your market. Our [technical SEO page](https://seoeliteagency.com/technical-seo-services/) covers the full scope of that work.
The previous version of this answer claimed we routinely find a large share of a site's pages excluded from Google's index without the owner's knowledge, and put a precise range on it. We have no published measurement behind that range, so it is gone. The honest version costs us nothing: indexation gaps are common, they are worth checking first, and your own Search Console coverage report will tell you the truth about your site in about a minute without hiring anybody.

## How does the Google map pack work?
The map pack is the block of business listings above the organic results, and it is driven by your Google Business Profile more than by your website. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance and popularity: how well the profile matches the search, how close the business is to the searcher, and how well known it is (Google).
Only two of those three are things you can move, which is the part most local pitches skip. Distance is fixed. You are where you are, and the shortcut people reach for, a fabricated address nearer the city center, gets the profile suspended rather than ranked. Relevance is category accuracy, complete services, and a profile that genuinely matches what was searched. Popularity, which the industry usually calls prominence, is the long game: Google says that factor is based on info like how many websites link to your business and how many reviews you have (Google).
So the work is repetitive rather than clever. Get the primary category exactly right, because it carries more weight than almost anything else on the profile. Keep the name, address and phone identical everywhere they appear, since inconsistent details split one business into several weak entities. Earn reviews steadily rather than in bursts. Fill the profile out completely and keep it current. The previous version of this page attached a specific number of directories to the citation work; we have no basis for that figure, so it is not here.
The reason this outranks its reputation is that a complete, accurate profile can beat a business with a stronger website, which is why it is not a box you tick once at setup. It has also quietly become an identity record: it is increasingly what AI systems check to confirm that a local business is real, where it is, and what it does. That makes an accurate profile a prerequisite for AI visibility rather than a separate project, and it is the one genuine overlap between local SEO and AI search. Our [Google Business Profile page](https://seoeliteagency.com/google-business-profile-optimization-services/) covers the work in detail.
